Our Wedding

We had the same childhood, went to the same schools, but never knew each other. We finally met during our college years through our best friends, Maid of Honor Sydney Chester and Best Man Brandon Mitchell, at a bar. After a great night out, we decided to go on our first date. One month later, we made it official! Fast forward two years, we found ourselves at the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, where Christian got down on one knee and asked the biggest question: “Will you marry me?” Danielle said yes! After careful planning and a few trips overseas, and inspired by our love of travel and Christian’s Italian background, we found our dream destination—Todi, Italy—where we invite you to come celebrate the greatest day of our lives!

Our Story

Photos

Sydney and Danielle have been best friends since 5th grade! She’s been by my side through every chapter of life, and I couldn’t imagine this day without her standing next to me.

Sydney Chester

Brandon and Christian are cousins who grew up side by side, sharing countless memories—from late nights playing video games to afternoons on the football field. He is the reason Danielle and I met, and I am incredibly grateful to have him in my life.

Please avoid overly casual fabrics like denim. For men: A suit is preferred; tuxedos are also appropriate. Dark suits or a well‑tailored blazer with a dress shirt and tie will be suitable. Our Wedding Venue: Borgo Petroro Our celebration takes place at Borgo Petroro, a stunning Country Relais set within an authentic medieval castle. Located in the heart of rural Umbria, the estate is surrounded by the region's signature rolling hills, olive groves, and vineyards. Just a short distance from the historic jewel-town of Todi, it offers a peaceful and timeless escape for our wedding festivities. We are so excited to celebrate with you! Please note that while the Castello offers a magical setting, on-site accommodations are very limited. To ensure everyone is looked after, all on-site reservations will be coordinated directly through the venue, rather than online booking sites. If you are interested in staying on-site or would like recommendations for lovely hotels nearby, we are here to help! We will share more detailed booking information soon, but in the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. Getting to Borgo Petroro Borgo Petroro is a hidden gem tucked away in the Umbrian countryside, about two hours north of Rome. Whether you choose to drive yourself through the olive groves or take a scenic train, here is everything you need to know to find your way to our castle home. 1. Flying into RomeFor most guests, the easiest way to reach us is by flying into one of Rome’s major airports:Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino (FCO): The primary international airport.Ciampino (CIA): Often used for regional and budget flights within Europe. 2. Driving (Highly Recommended)Renting a car is the best way to enjoy the flexibility of the Umbrian region and explore the nearby "jewel-town" of Todi. The Journey: From Rome, the drive to Borgo Petroro takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours via the A1 and SS3bis highways. International Driving Permit (IDP): It is a legal requirement to have an IDP to rent and drive a car in Italy. You can easily obtain this through your local AAA office for a small fee. It is a simple, over-the-counter process that does not require a new driving test, but you will need it alongside your standard license. Pro-Tip: The final stretch of the drive offers stunning views—keep your cameras ready for the first glimpse of the Castello! 3. Taking the TrainIf you prefer to sit back and watch the landscape roll by, the train is a wonderful option. The Route: From Rome's Termini Station, you can take a train toward Terni or Spoleto. You can check schedules and book tickets in advance via Trenitalia. The Final Leg: From Terni, you will need to take a connecting bus or local train toward Todi-Ponte Rio. Taxis: Todi-Ponte Rio is about 15 minutes from the Borgo. Taxis can be scarce, so we recommend pre-booking a service. 4. Private TransfersFor a seamless, door-to-door experience, private car transfers can be booked from Rome airports directly to Borgo Petroro. Estimated Travel Time: ~1 hour 50 minutes from FCO. Booking: Services like Daytrip offer reliable private transfers with English-speaking drivers.

Overview of Todi, Italy Just a stone's throw from Borgo Petroro lies Todi, a charming medieval hilltop town that feels as though it’s been frozen in time. Founded by the ancient Umbri people, Todi is perched high above the Tiber River, offering some of the most breathtaking, panoramic views in all of central Italy. We encourage you to get lost in its winding, narrow streets and discover its rich cultural heritage. Highlights of the town include: Piazza del Popolo: One of Italy’s most beautiful medieval squares, home to the historic Palazzo del Popolo. The Cathedral of San Fortunato: A stunning example of Gothic architecture with an incredible vista. Local Charm: Todi is famous for its "slow life" atmosphere, perfect for a midday espresso or a quiet afternoon wandering the ancient stone walls. Historical Significance Ancient Origins: Todi was originally known as Tuder and served as an Etruscan fortress before becoming a Roman ally.Cultural Heritage: The town is known for its well-preserved historical monuments, including an Etruscan necropolis, a Roman amphitheater, and medieval town walls.Notable Figures: Todi is the birthplace of the Franciscan poet Jacopone da Todi and was home to the family of Roman Emperor Trajan. Top 3 Things to Do in Todi 1. Experience Piazza del PopoloOften cited as one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Italy, this is the heart of the city. Take a moment to admire the Palazzo del Popolo and the Cathedral of San Fortunato, or simply grab a table at a local café to enjoy a cappuccino and soak in the historic atmosphere. 2. Climb the Bell Tower of San FortunatoFor the best views of the Umbrian countryside, head to the Church of San Fortunato. If you're feeling adventurous, you can climb the bell tower for a 360-degree vista of the silvery olive groves and rolling hills surrounding the town. 3. Discover the Roman Cisterns (Cisterne Romane)Hidden beneath the Piazza del Popolo is a fascinating network of ancient Roman cisterns. Built over 2,000 years ago, these underground chambers are an incredible way to see the "layers" of history that make Todi so unique ActivitiesExploring Narrow Streets: Visitors can wander through Todi's picturesque streets filled with stone houses and medieval architecture. Local Cuisine: Enjoy traditional Italian meals at local restaurants and gelaterias. A Couple Pro Tips: The Best View: For the most iconic photo of the trip, suggest guests visit the Tempio di Santa Maria della Consolazione at the foot of the hill before driving up into the town center. Parking: Todi is largely a pedestrian zone. Remind guests to use the Porta Orvietana car park and take the funicular (inclined elevator) up into the heart of the city. Dining: If you find yourself in town for a leisurely lunch, look for a restaurant with a terrace view—there is nothing quite like dining overlooking the Tiber Valley!
